전자상거래-금융 앱은 고전한국 사람들이 가장 즐겨 쓰는 애플리케이션(앱·응용 프로그램)은 게임 등 엔터테인먼트 앱과 교육용 앱인 것으로 나타났다.
18일 KT경제경영연구소가 펴낸 ‘앱으로 보는 모바일 트렌드 변화’에 따르면 이달 초 기준 국내 스마트폰 앱 마켓에서 다운로드된 앱 가운데 게임, 음악, 스포츠 관련 엔터테인먼트 앱의 비중이 53%로 가장 높았다. 학습을 목적으로 한 교육용 앱의 다운로드 비중은 17%였다. 전체 앱 마켓에 등록된 앱 가운데 엔터테인먼트 관련 앱이 차지하는 비중은 39%로 가장 높았다. 교육용 앱은 ‘보기만 해도 느는 토익’이나 ‘뽀로로 낱말놀이’ 등과 같이 어학용 앱과 유아 교육용 앱이 대부분을 차지했다. 전자상거래나 금융 앱은 다른 앱과 비교해 아직 널리 사용하지는 않는 것으로 나타났다. 미국 역시 전체 앱 마켓에서 게임 앱의 비중이 절반에 가까운 49%에 이른다. 반면 교육용 앱의 비중은 1% 남짓할 정도로 한국과 달리 인기가 없었다.
게임 앱이 인기를 끌면서 다양한 종류의 다른 앱에도 게임을 하는 재미를 더하는 ‘게임화 현상’이 나타나고 있다. 프로야구 앱인 ‘2012프로야구’는 구단별로 선수 정보를 제공할 뿐 아니라 실제 선수의 성적과 연동된 시뮬레이션 게임을 할 수 있게 했다. ‘영어단어 이미지 트레이닝’ 앱도 단어를 외워야 섬에서 탈출할 수 있는 미션을 주고 퀴즈를 풀 때마다 아이템을 획득할 수 있게 하는 식이다.
또 소셜네트워크서비스(SNS)가 다양한 콘텐츠의 유통 허브로 성장하면서 기존 앱에 SNS 기능을 탑재하거나 SNS와 연동시키는 경우도 늘었다. ‘카카오스토리’는 사진을 공유하고 사진에 대한 코멘트를 교환하는 등 사실상 SNS 기능을 가진 앱으로 출시 9일 만에 가입자 1000만 명을 돌파했다. 게임에 소셜 기능을 추가한 ‘룰 더 스카이’ 앱은 출시한 지 1년 만에 일일 접속자 수 40만 명을 달성한 인기 앱이 됐다.
업무용이나 교육용으로 이용하는 경우가 많은 태블릿PC의 이용 패턴은 스마트폰과 뚜렷한 차이를 보였다. 스마트폰에서 이용 빈도가 낮은 문서작업, 편집용 앱은 태블릿PC의 필수 앱으로 자리 잡았고 e북이나 동영상 스트리밍 앱 등 태블릿PC의 큰 화면을 활용할 수 있는 앱의 인기가 높았다. 또 카카오톡 등 휴대전화 문자메시지 서비스를 대체하는 앱도 스마트폰에 비해 다운로드 비중이 적었다.

In February of this year, Andy Rubin of Google Mobile said that there were 850,000 Android devices being activated each day, and that there were over 300 million devices total worldwide. The Android app market needs to keep up with the device market, and as such, there are over 400,000 Android apps on the market today, even apps that can assist in finding information about the 1940 census changes. While the free Android apps made up a majority of the market, there were still quite a number of them which required a micropayment of under 10 dollars.
Entertainment apps account for over 50,000 of the Android apps alone. While many would say that entertainment consists of only games, there are a wide range of applications which are in this field. Funny pictures, scheduling movie tickets, music downloaders and more rest within this category. Essentially, you can find anything which is entertaining here, and the number of Android apps keeps growing and growing.

Personalization apps are second, with over 40,000 apps on the market today. Most of the items within this category of Android apps are for wallpapers and backgrounds for the Android enabled phones. There are starscapes, landscapes, animals, and more within the personalization Android app market. If there is something to make an Android a little different, people are downloading it.

Not surprisingly, the third category is books and reference. There are just a little over 31,000 Android apps within this field. The tops? Not surprisingly, the top downloads are the Bible and the Quran, with a megapack of free books following. Reference manuals abound within this category: inspirational quotes, the US constitution, dictionaries galore and how to tie a tie are all represented here.

The fourth most popular category for Android apps is the Tools category. These tools, like the other categories, represent a wide range of functions for the Android. A person can have their own stopwatch, convert metric measurements to English, and discover the little used wi-fi networks within any area or room. The Android becomes the all in one toolkit with these Android apps.
Top Tools Category
Lifestyle Android apps had approximately 26,000 apps available on the market. The top apps perform a hodgepodge of functions, from ordering your favorite pizza to finding the perfect home. As it is a catch-all category, there are plenty of odd Android apps which are tailored to suit even the most hard to please person’s needs.

With 850,000 Android enabled phones being activated every single day, the Android apps market is absolutely booming. With over 400,000 Android apps on the market today, and more added at a breakneck pace, one can easily say that there’s an app for that and mean it.
